Bobby’s Easy Fast Frosting
- 1 cup milk
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup butter, margerine or shortening
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Method
1. In a small saucepan, combine milk and flour. Cook over medium high heat until it starts boiling. Remove from the heat and set aside to cool.
2. When the milk mixture is cool, add butter, sugar and vanilla. Beat with an electric mixer for 10 to 13 minutes (long time is key for light and creamy consistency). Scrape the bowl occasionally as you beat.
3. Frost the cake and refrigerate until about 1/2 hour before serving.
Milk can be replaced by eggnog or vanilla cream to add more flavor. Vanilla extract can be replaced by other flavors such as rose water, lavender, pistachio essence, etc.
This frosting can also be used a filling between cake layers.
