Spiced Sugar Cookies
- 130 g sugar
- 100 g brown sugar
- 230 g butter (softened)
- 4 tbsp milk (or buttermilk)
- 4 tsp vanilla extract
- 230 g all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 2 pinches salt
- 2 tsp cinnamon
- 1 tsp ground ginger
- ½ tsp ground cloves
- ½ tsp cardamom
Method
1. Preheat oven to 180°C and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
2. Cream the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
3. Mix in the milk and vanilla extract.
4. In another bowl, combine flour, baking powder, salt, and spices.
5. Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until you get a soft dough.
6. Scoop or roll the dough into small balls (about 2–3 cm) and place on the baking sheet. Flatten slightly with a fork or the bottom of a glass.
7. Bake 10–12 minutes, until lightly golden at the edges.
8. Let cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
